Team Member Spotlight: Sandra Griffin
Sandra works as one of the Contracting Officers in the Procurement & Inventory Management Division at the Headquarters facility. She is responsible for managing the procurement and contract administration process for requisitions received from other company departments. This includes the planning and development of solicitations to the delivery of goods and services, and ensuring the process is within regulatory and ethical standards. She said, “I like building a rapport with the external contractors and vendors that I work with. It makes my job easier, and helps them get an end product quicker.” She is committed to her work and believes that “you should be professional at all times, be the best you can be and give it all you got!”
Sandra has been with BSD for 20 years, starting as a temporary employee before being hired as a Contracting Officer. She has served as one of our many dedicated volunteer Ambassadors – assisting our customers during special events, including Fair St. Louis. She served on the BSD Diversity Committee, sang for years in the Bi-State Choir and modeled in many of the Black History Month celebrations. Prior to BSD, Sandra worked for 16 years as a Procurement Clerk in the Contracts & Procurement Department for the U.S. Army.
Sandra enjoys roller skating, traveling and learning about different cultures at local cultural festivals and events. She is a member of the ZULU Social & Pleasure Club, which focuses on Child Literacy, and Break-A-Way Productions, an organization that promotes Jazz and R&B events. Sandra is retiring on April 30 and plans to spend even more time with her two daughters and three grandchildren.
